Terms of Service

The short version

Use SplitUp fairly, don't abuse it, and don't do anything illegal with it. We'll keep the service running and be honest with you. Pretty simple.

1. Acceptance

By using SplitUp, you agree to these terms. SplitUp is operated by Telfos Co. LLC. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the service. You must be at least 13 years old to use SplitUp.

2. Your Account

• You're responsible for keeping your password secure

• You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account

• Use a real email address - we need it to contact you about your account

• One account per person - don't create fake or duplicate accounts

3. Free vs Pro Plans

Free Plan

• Up to 3 groups

• Up to 5 members per group

• Up to 20 expenses per group

• 3 AI receipt scans per month

Pro Plan - $3.99/month

• Unlimited groups, members, and expenses

• Unlimited AI receipt scans

• All current and future Pro features

We reserve the right to change plan features and pricing with 30 days notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before any price changes take effect.

4. Payments & Refunds

• Pro subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically

• You can cancel anytime from Account Settings - no cancellation fees

• When you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the billing period

• We don't offer refunds for partial months, but contact us and we'll try to help

• Early Bird pricing ($2.99/mo) is locked in for the life of your subscription as long as you don't cancel

• Payments are processed by Stripe - see their terms at stripe.com/legal

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use SplitUp for anything illegal

• Try to hack, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service

• Create fake accounts or impersonate others

• Spam other users through invite links

• Use automated tools to abuse the receipt scanning feature

• Resell or sublicense access to SplitUp

6. Your Data

You own your data. We don't claim any rights to the expenses, groups, or other content you create in SplitUp. You can export or delete your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

7. AI Receipt Scanning

Receipt scanning uses Claude AI by Anthropic. While we do our best to ensure accuracy, AI-extracted data may contain errors. Always review scanned receipts before submitting. Receipt images are processed and not stored after scanning. Scan limits apply based on your plan (3/month free, unlimited Pro).

8. Service Availability

We work hard to keep SplitUp running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. We may occasionally need to take the service down for maintenance. We'll try to notify you in advance for planned downtime. We're not liable for any losses caused by service interruptions.

9. Termination

You can delete your account anytime from Account Settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If we terminate your account without cause, we'll refund any unused Pro subscription time.

10. Limitation of Liability

SplitUp is provided "as is". We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability to you won't exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms occasionally. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of SplitUp after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
